Three CapCut Hacks You Didn’t Know You Needed

If you’ve ever spent hours at your desk editing a video, only to post it and feel like something is off, you’re not alone. The reality is, creating high-quality content is so much more than aesthetic footage and a great idea. How your video and text sits on the screen and how easy it is for your audience to follow along, can make or break your post’s engagement.

For business owners, content creators and social media experts, CapCut is one of the most popular platforms to create and refine video content. Lucky for us, it’s packed with features that can completely transform the final result when used properly.

Whether you’re creating TikToks, Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts, knowing a few strategic shortcuts can save you a lot of time and instantly elevate your content.

These three CapCut hacks will have your videos looking way more polished - and none of them take longer than five minutes to learn.

1. Social Media Preview Tool

Ever posted a video and immediately regretted how it looks on your profile? That’s where the social media preview tool comes in.

Tap the TikTok icon under your video and select which platform you want to preview the video in. This feature allows you to check your caption placement, text spacing and where parts of your video may not be visible due to your profile picture, likes, comments and other UI buttons.

This tool is a game changer in helping you design your content with intention. No more awkwardly cut-off text or weird framing.

Pro tip: Ensure your video is in a 9:16 ratio to use this tool.

2. Auto Captions

Most people scroll social media on mute. So if your content doesn’t include captions, you’re likely losing a large portion of your audience before they even engage.

The auto captions tool in CapCut generates subtitles for your video in seconds - and they’re pretty accurate (most of the time!). From there, you can customise everything from font and size to colour, placement and animation style or choose a template from presets.

Captions aren’t just a nice addition, they are essential for improving accessibility and keeping your viewers engaged from start to finish. But don’t forget to review to make sure the captions align with what is being said in the video!

Pro tip: Keep captions to one line at a time so they’re easier to follow.

3. Stabilise Feature

Shaky footage can quickly take away from even the best content. But you don’t need a tripod to fix it.

CapCut’s stabilise feature smooths out handheld footage with just one click, instantly making your video look more polished and professional. To find it, select your clip, hover over the Enhance Visuals (HD) option, and choose Stabilise.

Clean, steady visuals make your content feel higher quality and remove unwanted distractions for your audience.

Pro tip: Don’t overdo it. Too much stabilisation can crop your video or make it look unnatural.

These features may be simple, but they can make a noticeable difference in the quality of your final video. And more importantly, they will save you time and make your content stand out.
